Nuti. On the back of this photo is written: "Nuti, ca. 3 1/2 months". Nuti was born April 10th 1939, so the photo must have been taken near the end of July. It looks like it was a nice day; Nuti's knitted (or crocheted?) hat has been taken off, and is lying in a corner of his pram. His rattle looks like one of those classical rattles that used to be on nostalgic illustrations of babies when I was little. The jacket and the lace on his pillow are most likely home crocheted and home made.

Nuti's "real" name was Knut, like his father's and father's father. He was Ragnhild's eldest son by my grandfather Knut Anders Gustav "Antti" Norrgrén (1900 - 1943).

Unfortunately Nuti drowned only three and a half years old, in November 1942, when his sledge went through the ice near the family's home on Ulvøya (Wolf island) in Oslo. I always heard that his sledge was the kind that has a steering wheel, and that Nuti's drowning accident was the reason why my father would never allow myself and my sisters to have a sledge like that.
